Myers Park is an affluent neighborhood in Charlotte, North Carolina. Though its boundaries were initially considered to coincide with the boundaries of the 1220-acre John Spring Myers farm, in 2008 the neighborhood comprised 2200 acres and a population of 9,809. The Myers Park neighborhood is that area bounded by Queens Road on the north; Providence Road on the east; Sharon Road on the south; and Colony, East Woodlawn and South Kings on the west. Myers Park is bordered on the north by the lesser known Cherry Community, with whom it shares a rather interesting, and controversial past. To the west lies Dilworth, to the east lies Elizabeth and to the south is South Park. The neighborhood was designed by the Harvard-trained landscape architect from Boston, John Nolen. Nolen's vision of an area of fine Colonial and Tudor homes with lush grounds, tree-lined streets, and curving drives had started to become a reality in the early 1900's. To this day Myers Park retains the Nolen vision making it one of the most desirable areas to live in...close to the city, full of history and architectural charm. Take a walk through Myers Park and you will feel like you're back in time as you marvel at all the beautiful Tudors, Colonials and massive bungalows with vine porches; sweeping 100-year old trees and "figure-S" topography. Providence Road, Kings Road and Queens Road are major thoroughfares in Myers Park. The intersection of "Queens and Queens and Providence and Providence" in front of the Myers Park Library is legendary. Myers Park High School is highly sought after. In the spring of 2008, Newsweek ranked Myers Park 38th among America’s top 100 high schools. 2008 SAT composite average (math, critical reading, and writing) was the highest among the public high schools in Mecklenburg County, 200 points above the national average, and 222 points above the North Carolina average.
